| Description | Technological advances and developments in medicine, particularly in radiology, oncology (radiotherapy) and nuclear medicine, have created a demand for qualified medical physicists to manage and monitor the medical usage of radiation in all its forms. In 1998 the University of Malaya launched the Master of Medical Physics programme to meet this growing need. Over sixty graduates have come out from this programme thus far. This programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), United Kingdom, since 2002. At present, the University of Malaya programme is the only one outside the British Isles (United Kingdom and Ireland) to receive such recognition. |

| Entry Requirements | The qualifications for admission into the programme are as follows: (c) Bachelor's Degree in physical or engineering sciences with a Cumulative Grade Average (CGPA) of at least 3.00 or its equivalent; or (d) Bachelor's Degree in physical or engineering sciences with a Cumulative Grade Average (CGPA) of at least 2.50 or its equivalent and at least five (5) years of relevant field experience; or (e) Equivalent qualification approved by the Senate from time to time. Other Requirements Satisfies the Department responsible for the candidate's program of study in an Entrance Assessment recognized by the Faculty. |
| English Requirement | A non-Malaysian applicant whose degree is from a university or institution of higher learning where the medium of instruction for that degree is not the English language and where the applicant wishes to follow a programme shall be required: To obtain a score of 600 for a paper-based total (PBT); a score of 250 for a computer-based total (CBT) or a score of 100 for an internet-based total (IBT) for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or To obtain a band of 6 for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). |
