Description The doctoral program in Information System and Management prepares students with a deep understanding of the theory, research, technical and organizational aspects of information systems. The purpose of the study program is the education of students so that they are capable of high quality and independent scientific research in the field of organizational sciences and management, computer science and other related disciplines. Besides that, this program equips the postgraduate students to deal with complex issues in Information Systems and Management in related industries at both the national and international levels. This program intends to focus on preparing postgraduates students with issues related to application, integration, training and administration of computing technologies which meets both organization and societal needs. Our Ph.D. in Information System and Management was created to train scholars to conduct innovative research that cuts across disciplines in order to address significant challenges in IT theory, strategy, management, and design as it relates to business and policy settings. Upon graduation, graduates from this program will be able to have expertise which will offer more working opportunities in different areas specifically in academician such in universities, working in business industry, government and private departments.

Every international candidate must provide evidence of English language proficiency by achieving the minimum score in one of the following recognized tests:

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) / PTE Academic Online: 51
Malaysian University English Test (MUET): Band 4.0
Cambridge Linguaskill: B2
APTIS by British Council: B2
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) equivalent test: B2
Note: Online English Proficiency Tests other than those listed above will not be accepted.

2. Requirement for Candidates Not Meeting Stipulated Scores:

Candidates who do not meet the minimum scores in the aforementioned tests are required to undertake the following:

English Qualification Minimum Score Required Action
IELTS or Equivalent 5.0 or equivalent Candidates can register under IGS and simultaneously need to register for an English Competency Course AND re-sit for the English Competency Test, achieving MUET Band 4.5 or equivalent within two (2) semesters.
IELTS or Equivalent <3.0 – 4.5 or equivalent The candidate is not eligible to apply and must meet the standard English language qualification requirements outlined in point 1.

3. Exemptions to the General English Requirement:

Exemption from the general English language requirement may be granted in the following cases:

Citizenship and Academic Background:
Candidates originating from a country where English is the primary language of speech or who obtained an academic qualification from such a country. This exemption also applies to candidates from Commonwealth countries.
Medium of Instruction:
Candidates whose academic qualification was obtained from an institution where English was the medium of instruction. A letter from the university verifying this must be provided.
Field of Study (Malay Language):
Candidates pursuing a field of study in Malay or a field where Malay is the medium of instruction.
Cognate Countries (Specific):
Candidates from cognate countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, and South Thailand). However, if the candidate intends to write their thesis in English, they must still meet the standard English language requirements.
Malaysian Local University Graduates:
Candidates who obtained their academic qualification from a Malaysian local university.
Specific Programmes (Arabic Language Focus):
Candidates applying for the following programmes:
Master of Art / Doctor of Philosophy in Arabic Language
Master of Art / Doctor of Philosophy in Syariah
Master of Art / Doctor of Philosophy in Usuluddin
Master of Education / Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Education AND will write their thesis in Arabic Language, subject to fulfilling one of the following graduation requirements:
Submitting a minimum IELTS band score of 3.0 or equivalent before graduation.
